This morning at the park, Millie showed us just how much of a nature girl she is: she hugged and kissed every tree in the little field where we were playing! It's a new park, so the trees were small enough for her to wrap her arms all the way around, which she thought was very neat. She also sat and watched some ants crawl on the sidewalk, rolled around in the grass and, of course, "buried" my legs with handfuls of red dirt. In the midst of all this tree-hugging and dirt-throwing, she proceeded to pick up and throw away almost every piece of trash she found. Larry showed her this trick yesterday while waiting for me outside the post office, and now she loves to clean up the outside and put all the "baw-bage" in its place. I think perhaps we have a budding naturalist on our hands!
Also today, Millie made the exciting step of going to the bathroom on the potty for the first time! She stood up in the bathtub and looked like she had to go, so I asked her; she said yes and lifted her arms for me to put her on the potty, and then she, well, did her business. We were so proud of her! I don't think true "potty learning" will happen for awhile yet, but it seems like she's starting to be ready to take that step. Hooray!
